New York City-based Women in the Boardroom, an organization aiming to advance women in the workplace and into corporate boardrooms, said that Aspen Re, the reinsurance segment of Bermuda-based Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd., has joined the organization as a corporate member.

"WIB is delighted that Aspen Re, a leader in the reinsurance industry, is committed to its female employees' professional advancement," said Sheila Ronning, WIB's CEO and founder. "We look forward to providing the tools and networking opportunities that will enhance their board interaction, as well as help these women secure director roles."

Aspen Re's position as a corporate member will allow its senior-level female employees to:

  • Have consulting sessions with Women in the Boardroom's CEO on identifying board and career goals.
  • Create a board service positioning statement that reinforces their value add and skill set.
  • Have networking opportunities.
  • Have access to board opening notifications, live webinars and a recorded content library.
  • Have access to a matchmaking program and annual board assembly.

"The developmental platform [of Women in the Boardroom] aligns very well with our diversity and inclusion initiative and provides a unique opportunity for female staff within our business," said Brian Boornazian, chairman of Aspen Re and president of Aspen Re America.
