Bermuda-based insurer and reinsurer Aspen Insurance, a division of Aspen Insurance Holdings Ltd., has appointed Sean McPhillips as senior vice president and head of its U.S. primary casualty operation.
Based in New York, McPhillips will lead the planning, strategy and execution of the primary casualty operation throughout the United States and will report to David Cohen, Aspen’s president and chief underwriting officer.
"Sean is ideally qualified to lead our U.S. primary casualty operation based on his expertise, strong relationships, and thorough understanding of the market," Cohen said in a statement.
McPhillips joined Aspen Insurance in early 2016 as vice president of primary and excess casualty. Prior to joining Aspen, he served as vice president and head of primary casualty for capspecialty, where he launched the primary casualty department, developing underwriting guidelines, coverage forms, and a comprehensive distribution strategy.
