The National Association of Insurance Commissioners has ranked the top 25 private commercial auto insurance companies and groups by market share of direct premiums written for 2015.
Direct written premiums totaled $31.2 billion for the top 25, an increase from last year's $29.2 billion. The top 10 carriers accounted for 42% of the total direct premiums written. The top five carriers pulled the most weight in the commercial auto insurance industry, accounting for 28% of the direct premiums written.
The companies in the top five spots remained the same as they were in 2014, though not in the same order.
AmTrust NGH broke into the top 10, coming in at No. 9, up from No. 14 in 2014. It replaced Tokio Marine Holdings in the top 10. Tokio Marine was No. 10 in 2014, but fell to No. 11 in the 2015 list.
