It’s that time of the year when all work stops, at least for a little, as people take time to fill in their NCAA College Basketball Tournament bracket.

The Coverage Opinions newsletter has decided that the NCAA bracket shouldn’t just be limited to figuring out which college basketball team is the best in the nation. The bracket has a place in insurance law as well.

There are dozens of issues that determine coverage under a liability insurance policy. They involve insuring agreements, exclusions, conditions and more.

While they are all unique and important is some way, their level of interestingness can vary greatly — from tremendously to not at all.  Some liability coverage issues are constantly evolving and have been debated for decades — with no consensus among insurers and insureds, and courts issuing decisions all over the board.

Other issues arise infrequently and are staid — with little disagreement among those involved in the claims process. However, only one liability coverage issue can be the most interesting. And opinions can vary greatly on what that it. An interesting coverage issue is in the eye of the beholder.

The Coverage Opinions newsletter has set out to take a survey to determine the most interesting liability coverage issue with its “Most Interesting Liability Coverage Issue: Bracket Challenge.”

Start with 64 coverage issues and narrow it down to one. Send your brackets to maniloff@coverageopinions.info by March 23. Some entrants will receive prizes.
