Swiss insurance carrier Zurich North America was recently honored by Maryland Gov. Larry Hogan with a proclamation to commemorate the 125th anniversary of Zurich Surety. Al Redmer Jr., the insurance commissioner of Maryland, presented the proclamation to Bryan Salvatore, president of specialty products, and Michael Bond, head of surety, at Zurich's Owings Mills, Md., office on Oct. 21. 

The Arlington, Va.-based Casualty Actuarial Society (CAS) and the Malvern, Pa.-based Institutes said they have entered into an alliance to enhance their professional offerings and deliver innovative educational courses to the insurance industry and to risk management professionals. The alliance is to support and promote professional designation programs and other educational opportunities for insurance and risk professionals.

Separately, CAS said it has created the CAS Institute (iCAS), offering new credentials and specialized professional education for quantitative professionals. 

Sarasota, Fla.-based Centauri Insurance said it has recently expanded its range of products and services and increased its geographic market presence to nine states. Centauri's insurance products now includes commercial, residential and business owners' programs in Florida, and dwelling fire products in Texas and Mississippi. Additionally, the company said it has launched a new website and social media pages.

Charlottesville, Va.-based environmental insurance provider PartnerOne Environmental is working in partnership with Berkley Environmental, a division of Jersey City, N.J.-based Berkley Specialty Underwriting Managers, to offer PartnerOne Contractors Pollution & Professional. The product is a combined contractors pollution liability and professional liability policy that is tailored to address the risk exposures encountered by nonenvironmental contractors.

Roswell, Ga.-based crisis management consultancy Firestorm said it is offering two free cyber crisis response virtual simulation exercises. The events are to take place at 2 p.m. (Eastern), Tuesday, Dec. 8, and 2 p.m. (Eastern), Monday, Dec. 14.
