Minneapolis-based online referral generation platform Trusted Choice,announced the addition of Chicago-based CNA as a national partner for commercial lines insurance.
Trusted Choice also announced that current partner company Foremost Insurance Group will add 10 states to its presence on TrustedChoice.com. The states added are Colorado, Iowa, Kentucky, Tennessee, Massachusetts, Connecticut, Nevada, Maine, New Hampshire and Florida. This brings Grand Rapids, Mich.-based Foremost to 35 states served on its TrustedChoice.com's network of independent agents.
Kansas City, Mo.-based brokerage giant Lockton Cos. opening an office in Amman, Jordan. General Manager Ahmad Abdo will head the office.
The New York-based insurance industry standard developer Association for Cooperative Operations Research and Development (ACORD) said it will begin offering digital credentials to organizations that demonstrate ACORD compliance and the ability to accurately exchange data with other organizations. ACORD is also issuing digital credentials to its ACORD Certified Expert (ACE) designees, who demonstrate expertise in implementing ACORD standards in various lines of business. ACORD Award recipients, winners of the ACORD Insurance Innovation Challenge, and ACORD members will receive other credentials. ACORD's test harness, which functions as a virtual "trading partner," will validate the certifications. ACORD will issue a certification in the form of a digital credential after verification of a successful test.
Boston-based national insurance brokerage and risk management firm Risk Strategies Co, announced the acquisition of Northbrook, Ill.-based professional liability insurance broker M.G. Welbel & Associates. Terms were not disclosed
The Westfield Center, Ohio-based Westfield Insurance Foundation announced the creation of the James R. Clay Scholarship, honoring its outgoing chairman and CEO. The Ohio farmers Insurance Co. Board of Directors has provided funding of $100,000 to the Foundation to assist college and university students pursuing careers in insurance, risk management and insurance-related fields. The James R. Clay Scholarship, managed by the Malvern, Pa.-based Griffith Insurance Education Foundation, will provide one $5,000 scholarship in its first year, and will award additional scholarships as the endowment grows.
The Atlanta-based Reagan Consulting's Organic Growth and Profitability quarterly survey revealed that independent insurance agents/brokers had median organic growth of 4.4% for the third quarter, compared with 6% recorded in third quarter of 2014 — the slowest growth rate since late 2011. This marks the first time in 14 quarters that broker growth rates declined below 5%. Close to 50% of the industry's 100 largest firms participated in the survey. Median revenue of the firms completing the survey is approximately $18 million.
