NAPSLO's Annual Convention, held from Sept. 9-11 at the Manchester Grand Hyatt San Diego and Marriott Marquis San Diego Marina, saw record attendance once again this year. Myriad panels and events highlighted the conference meetings and kept attendees informed on the current state of the surplus lines market. NU P&C Editor-in-Chief Shawn Moynihan sat down with Brady Kelley, NAPSLO's executive director, and outgoing President Hank Haldeman for exclusive interviews that can be found on PropertyCasualty360.com.

The three days of meetings, business discussions and, of course, parties climaxed with the annual event's general session, during which attendees filled the grand ballroom for award presentations, the swearing in of new NAPSLO president Gil Hine and a slate of other directors and officers, and a stirring keynote by actor/activist Gary Sinise.

During the general session, Gilbert C. Hine Jr., CPCU, CFP, president of McClelland & Hine in San Antonio, was appointed NAPSLO's new president.

San Diego provided a sunny backdrop for this year's convention, with several hospitality events taking place outdoors.

Hank Haldeman, immediate past president of NAPSLO, took some time to talk to NU on Sept. 9. Look for his exclusive Q&A on PropertyCasualty360.com.

The Next Generation Panel, held on Sept. 10, featured speakers (from left) Art Davis of Colony Insurance Co., Mike Miller of Scottsdale Insurance, Ben Sloop of AmWINS Access, and NAPSLO's Hank Haldeman, also of the Sullivan Group. The panel was moderated by the president of NAPSLO's Next Generation, David Dow, also of AmWINS (not pictured).

Actor Gary Sinise delivered the general session's keynote speech.

Pomp & Circumstance
