One Call Care Management announced the promotion of Pamela Landefeld to the position of president of One Call Care Diagnostics. In her new role, Landefeld will lead product management and innovation, and will contribute to the One Call leadership team’s vision and strategic planning. Landefeld’s started with One Call in 1993, and has served as senior vice president and diagnostics national product leader. Prior to that, she served as vice president of national sales and account management.
AEU announced that Kayla Tortorich has joined the AEU team as vice president of claims medical management. Prior to joining AEU, she spent more than 10 years working in the insurance industry managing a medical bill review team, a Medicare set aside team, a pharmacy benefit manager vendor, and field medical management nurses.
Willis Group Holdings announced the appointment of Mary O’Connor as the CEO of financial lines for Willis GB. While O’Connor joins the executive committee of Willis GB, she continues to serve as global head of Willis’s financial institutions industry, with responsibility for Willis’s worldwide practice relating to all financial services clients. She joined Willis from the United Kingdom's Financial Services Authority (FSA), where she was was responsible for overseeing regulation of executives and client-facing staff working in financial services. She previously served as a manager in the Enforcement and Financial Crime Division. Prior to her time at the FSA (now the Financial Conduct Authority), O’Connor was a partner at a major U.S. law firm in London, and an assistant U.S. attorney in Washington, D.C.
Robert P. Restrepo Jr. is the recipient of the Griffith Insurance Education Foundation’s 2015 Lifetime Achievement Award. The presentation was made at the Property Casualty Insurers Association of America’s (PCI’s) annual meeting, held in Hollywood, Fla., earlier this month. Restrepo was recognized for his commitments to education and for his support of the missions of the Griffith Foundation and PCI. Restrepo is chairman of the board of directors of Columbus, Ohio-based State Auto Insurance Cos., and also serves on the board of directors of the Columbus Chamber of Commerce, the Insurance Information Institute, Columbus College of Art and Design, Nuclear Electric Insurance Ltd., and on the board of trustees of The Institutes.
Social Intelligence announced the addition of Massachusetts Institute of Technology Professor Alex Pentland to the company's advisory board. Pentland was appointed as part of the company’s ongoing effort to improve the way the insurance industry uses social media for risk assessment. Pentland’s expertise in channeling big data for analysis will help to ensure that the customer’s best interest will continue to influence the use of nontraditional data sources throughout the lifecycle of the insurance policy, the company said.
