QBE North America announced the appointment of Brian Griffith as executive vice president, Field Management and Distribution. In his new role, Griffith will be responsible for field management and will lead the strategy for all distribution channels across QBE, as well as drive all strategic agency management activities. This includes all U.S. major trading partner engagement, as well as engagement at the regional level. Griffith brings to QBE more than 22 years of property and casualty underwriting and leadership experience, and a track record of driving profitable growth.
Tom Moran has rejoined Heidrick & Struggles, the leader in providing executive search, leadership consulting and culture shaping worldwide. Moran previously spent more than two decades with Heidrick & Struggles, serving as the managing partner of the insurance practice and co-regional managing partner for North America of the financial services practice. Most recently, he served as a vice chairman at another leading executive search firm, while also serving as a partner in that firm's financial services and CEO & board practices.
Thomas Howell Ferguson P.A. (THF) announced the relocation of Christopher Howell, CPA, from Tallahassee to Tampa, Fla., to assume the role of market leader for the THF Tampa office. Howell will be primarily focused on the expansion of the insurance practice in the Tampa metro, while concentrating on growing the firm's not-for-profit and SEC practices in Tampa. As the firm's insurance industry co-leader, Howell is hands-on with the strategic planning and growth of the insurance team, as well as the planning and scheduling for the assurance services department.
Zurich Insurance Group AG named Kristof Terryn chief executive officer of its general insurance unit. Terryn, who has been CEO of the insurer's global life unit since August 2013, will assume his new position in October. Zurich is in the midst of analyzing RSA Insurance Group Plc's books after it announced in August a pending acquisition of the British insurer for 5.6 billion pounds ($8.5 billion). The acquisition would be Zurich's biggest since 2000, posing a fresh challenge for the management team led by CEO Martin Senn.
Pinnacle Actuarial Resources Inc. has announced that Brett Parmenter has re-joined the firm as a consulting actuary in the Chicago office. Parmenter brings to Pinnacle over ten years of property and casualty experience, as well as primary commercial insurance and reinsurance experience. He has extensive experience with stochastic models along with various capital allocation procedures and portfolio and large account profitability analyses.
Maroun Mourad has joined Verisk Insurance Solutions as senior vice president of commercial lines domestic and global, ISO insurance programs and analytic services. An insurance and reinsurance industry executive, with a 17-year domestic and international track record, Mourad will lead by maintaining ISO's position in the U.S. commercial insurance markets and help grow its footprint in the specialty, reinsurance, and global space. Most recently, Mourad served as chief executive officer of Zurich Insurance Group's Middle East operations based in Dubai.
Beecher Carlson Insurance Services, LLC (Beecher Carlson) announced the appointment of Molly Nolan as Northeast property practice leader, part of a major expansion in the property practice. Based in Boston, Nolan will be responsible for brokering, servicing and assisting in production on all complex property accounts. Nolan worked for large brokerage firms based in New York and Kansas City. Most recently, she worked with a large London-based broker, focusing on bringing independent business into the Lloyds of London, London and European markets. During her tenure she was both market and client facing and ran the North American Property team from 2010 to 2014.
EagleView Technology Corporation welcomes Antony Parchment as vice president of drone product strategy. Parchment demonstrates EagleView's continuing commitment to providing the strongest solutions for the use of unmanned aerial systems (UAS) to gather and provide intelligent imagery and insights derived from it. In his new role, Parchment will lead the development and implementation of a product strategy that commercializes drone technology and provides scalable and industry-specific solutions across multiple verticals. His initial focus will be to develop products and strategy for the use of drone technologies and data in insurance claims and underwriting. Most recently, Parchment served as leader of the claims innovation research and development team at Liberty Mutual Insurance.
The Insurance Marketing & Communications Association (IMCA) announced the election of its 2015-16 board of directors, which includes Leslie Lash as director of group communications and advertising at AmWINS Group Inc.; and Debbie Luera as corporate communications and marketing coordinator at Mutual Insurance Company of Arizona (MICA). Active IMCA members participated in the online election process held in late August. In addition to Lash and Luera, four IMCA board directors were re-elected to two-year terms: Ryan Arndorfer, Randy Clinger, Dave Evans and Valerie Foster.
