USAA is giving Google Compare a shot.

California drivers can now get auto insurance rate quotes and coverage information from USAA in their Google search results through Google Compare. USAA is piloting the program in California in an effor to explore new ways to reach customers, the company said in a press release.

"For those unfamiliar with USAA, this could provide another way for potential members to discover USAA and learn about our competitive products and exceptional customer service," says Jon-Michael Kowall, assistant vice president, innovation, USAA Property and Casualty Insurance Group, in the release.

USAA provides insurance to current and former members of the U.S. military and their families. As part of the Google quote process, users will be asked questions to determine if they are eligible to receive insurance from USAA.

If eligibility is established, USAA quotes will be included in the list of quotes users receive on Google Compare. Users interested in their USAA quote can then call the company to determine eligibility and purchase the policy.

The quotes provided by Google Compare are based on the same rating system as those provided on USAA's website and mobile app. Users also have access to USAA information like consumer reviews, ratings and awards on the Google Compare quote page.
