Former president George W. Bush is slated to speak at the Insurance Industry Charitable Foundation’s (IICF) third annual Lone Star Legends Benefit Dinner, Feb. 5 at the Omni Dallas hotel.

At the gala, chairman and CEO of MHBT Inc. and chair of IICF’s Texas/Southeast Division, Bill Henry, will interview President Bush onstage.

The evening’s events also include the presentation of grants to non-profit organizations operating within IICF’s Texas/Southeast Division. The community grants program provides funds to organizations that champion causes pertaining to children, education and veterans. To date, the Texas/Southeast Division has given more than $600,000 in grants though this program.

“The local and regional members of the insurance industry are dedicated to supporting community nonprofits and that sentiment is never more apparent than it is at the Lone Star Legends Benefit Dinner. As IICF gears up for its third annual event, it is wonderful to see just how remarkable the commitment of the insurance community truly is,” says IICF Texas/Southeast chairman Bill Henry.

“Through IICF’s support, these local organizations are making a tremendous difference in their local communities, and I’m thrilled to have the chance to witness its impact firsthand at this event.”

Through the grant program, IICF looks to reinvest funds raised by a particular region back into that same region to fund its communities. Last year alone, the program issued $300,000 in grants to 13 community organizations based in the Dallas and Austin, Texas areas, as well as in Florida and Alabama.
