P.F. Chang's China Bistro confirmed that a security breach occurring earlier this year involved stolen credit and debit card information from 33 restaurant locations in the United States.

The company has not determined how many customers' personal data was stolen.

The U.S. Secret Service and third-party forensic experts flagged a data security risk at the company in June. P.F. Chang's says it has "contained" the problem by switching to a manual processing system for all credit and debit card transactions and has been securely processing payment data since June 11.

The affected P.F. Chang's locations are in Arizona, California, Colorado, Florida, Illinois, Maryland, Missouri, Nevada, New Jersey, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Washington. Breach timelines at specific sites are listed at pfchangs.com/security.

Affected customers can choose to enroll in AllClear Secure, which includes identity theft monitoring and a $1 million identity theft insurance policy, for the next 12 months.

"We are committed to providing support and resources, including complimentary identity protection services, for all guests that may potentially be affected by the security compromise," Chief Executive Rick Federico said in a statement Monday.

None of the company's Pei Wei-branded locations were affected by the breach.

In the past 12 months, data breaches have hit other U.S. corporations, including Target, Neiman Marcus, Sally Beauty Holdings and Michaels Stores.
