A decorative façade beneath the Brooklyn Bridge in downtown Brooklyn collapsed, sending five people to the hospital, on July 2 during a fury of severe storms in the area, reports CBS New York.

Officials say the wall was not a retaining wall and the structural integrity of the bridge was not affected. The city departments of Transportation and Buildings arrived at the scene to investigate the stability of the surrounding structures. CBS says officials are investigating whether the collapse was related to severe storms that swept through the area that evening.

Most of the victims breathed in dust and debris, officials told CBS. The bricks did not appear to cause injuries.
