Colorado Governor John Hickenlooper is expected to sign legislation regulating ridesharing services such as uberX and Lyft.

Once the governor signs the bill – which includes insurance requirements – Colorado will become the first state to enact legislation governing these new businesses, referenced in the bill as "Transportation Network Companies."

Under the bill, insurance must be available once a driver is logged in, whether or not the driver already has a passenger in his or her vehicle and whether or not the driver is in the process of picking up a passenger.
