Lucille The RIMS and American International Group Inc. (AIG) inducted Lucille "Lucky" Gallagher and Charles "Chuck" Magazine into the Risk Management Hall of Fame at the RIMS 2014 Annual Conference & Exhibition in Denver, Colo. This is a posthumous award for Magazine, as he died in 2013.

The Hall of Fame serves to maintain the history of the risk management field and recognizes risk practitioners who have made significant contributions to advancing the discipline. Criteria for membership include achievements, innovation and trend setting, demonstrated leadership, character and service, as well as the highest level of ethical and professional conduct.

"The prominence of today's risk management profession is a credit to industry leaders like Lucky Gallagher and Chuck Magazine who, throughout their careers, have continuously gone above and beyond," said RIMS executive director Mary Roth. "It is an honor for us to announce this year's Risk Management Hall of Fame inductees and recognize them for all that they have achieved for RIMS and the profession."

Lucille Gallagher is a 35-year industry veteran. Now retired, she served as the CEO and managing partner of Human Resource Risk Management. Her professional experience also includes serving as vice president of risk management for ConAgra Refrigerated Foods and ConAgra Red Meat Cos.

In addition to her corporate risk experience, Gallagher was also an active RIMS member. Joining the Society's executive committee in 1990, she served as vice president of government affairs and vice president of conferences. In 1994, she served as RIMS president. She was the recipient of the RIMS Richard W. Bland award for her outstanding work in legislative and regulatory arenas, having served on the State of Colorado Insurance Board and on the Task Force on Insurance and the Governor's Workers' Compensation Oversight Task Force.

Charles J. Magazine began his risk management career in 1971 with Liberty Mutual Insurance Co. Since, he has gained more than 40 years of industry experience in risk management, insurance, claims, as well as positions within a major insurance company, a state health agency, private healthcare systems, a nationwide restaurant franchise operations and the City of Boynton Beach, Fla.

Prior to his death in 2013, Magazine was an active member of RIMS, having served on the Board of Palm Beach County Chapter from 1996 to 2013, having held various positions, including president from 2001-2002. He also served on the Society's Member Chapter Services Committee from 2007 to 2009.

Throughout his career, Magazine has been an active member of various industry affiliations including the Public Risk Management Assn., a board member with the Safety Council of Palm Beach County, vice president for the Florida Partnership for Safety and Health, among others. He has also held several leadership positions with the American Society for Healthcare Risk Management.

Having also served his local government, Magazine was active in a committee formed by State Senator Ron Klein to address Florida's property insurance concerns in the early 2000s. He also partnered with other RIMS chapters in the area to create a program similar to RIMS on the Hill for the state of Florida, allowing legislators to engage with risk managers and hear their concerns. His efforts earned him the RIMS Richard W. Bland Award in 2008 for his outstanding achievement in legislative and regulatory affairs.

Magazine has also supported the education of the next generation of risk management professionals through the Spencer Educational Foundation's internship program.

"Each year, AIG has the privilege to partner with RIMS to honor professionals whose careers have helped elevate the role risk management plays in industries across the global economy," said Rob Schimek, president and CEO of the Americas, AIG Property Casualty. "And each year, the Selection Committee does an outstanding job of choosing truly great risk management leaders who have made their mark on this important field. This year is no different with the induction of Lucky and Chuck."
