Florida's Citizens Property Insurance launched its most recent computer system upgrade, Personal Lines Claim Center. According to a release from the insurer, the personal claims component provides enhanced communication capabilities across business units and eliminates most manual processes while improving reporting and streamlining claims handling.

The implementation of the personal lines system follows the conversion of commercial lines claims and billing from outdated systems this past November. Citizens says it remains on track to fully transfer all operations from a handful of legacy systems to the new platform by the end of 2014, when personal lines billing and policy modules will also be up and running. Personal lines account for 96% of Florida Citizens' 943,400 policies in force as of Apr. 11, 2014, according to the statement.

"In just the initial weeks of its deployment, we can already appreciate the amount of hard work and effort that went into its development," says Jimmy Johnson, director of claims for Citizens. "This is certainly light years ahead of our prior claims handling system."
