Josue “Joe” Robles, CEO and president of USAA, announced in a statement that he will retire from the insurance and financial services company in the first quarter of 2015, after having held the position for eight years.

Robles said in the statement that the time was right for him to step down. “It has been my privilege to work at USAA for nearly 20 years,” Robles says. “However, in early 2015, it will be time for me to pass leadership of this great association to the next CEO.”

Lester Lyles, chairman of the USAA board of directors, says the company plans to announce a successor by the end of the year. Lyles went on to say the company has a succession plan in place, which includes a “comprehensive internal and external search.”
