Willis Group Holdings has appointed John Merkovsky its new Group Head of Risk Services.
Merkovsky, who will report to Willis Group Deputy CEO Steve Hearn, will work closely with the global brokerage's industry and product heads as well as its retail leadership to expand the company's team of risk specialists. Most recently, Merkovsky served as global leader and CEO for Marsh's Risk Consulting Practice, roles he held between 2005 and 2012.
Additionally, Merkovsky was responsible for Marsh's thought leadership activities around emerging risk issues including climate change, pandemics and supply chains, and in 2012 founded the Marsh Office of Innovation. He is also an annual contributor to the World Economic Forum's Global Risk Network Report.
"Businesses today have a pressing desire to gain a much better understanding of the threats they currently face or may be exposed to in the future," Hearn said in a statement. "And in response to a challenging operating environment, companies are increasingly demanding new services, tools, advice and expertise to help them interpret and diagnose risks. Our role is to equip clients with these tools and to use our insights and expertise to help our clients make more informed decisions."
Merkovsky's appointment is effective immediately.
