Marsh today announced the appointment of Donald Bailey as its new head of sales for the firm's U.S. and Canada division. He will be based in New York and assume the role on December 2.

In this newly created position, Bailey will be responsible for executing against the firm's overall strategy and working to increase the effectiveness and capacity of Marsh's sales team. Bailey will report to Joe McSweeny, president of Marsh's global sales organization, and work closely with the global team to ensure that consistent processes and best practices are being shared around the world.

"Driving profitable growth over a long-term period is a key tenet of our overall strategy, so we are delighted to bring in someone with Don's leadership skills, knowledge, and proven track record," says Marsh President and CEO Peter Zaffino on Bailey's appointment.

Bailey joins Marsh from The Allstate Corporation, where he was president of emerging businesses. He has 25 years of insurance industry experience, and has held senior leadership positions at Willis, including CEO of Willis HRH at Willis Group Holdings and CEO of Willis North America Inc. at Willis Group Holdings Public Limited Company. Bailey holds a BS in economics from Allegheny College, and an MBA from Eastern College in Philadelphia.
