Louisiana's state-run insurer of last resort has settled the remaining claims in a class-action lawsuit against its claims handlings after Hurricanes Katrina and Rita in 2005.
Plaintiff's attorneys say that Citizens mishandled 2005 hurricane claims from as many as 40,000 policyholders. The final round of settlements may affect about 7,500 people. The company will pay $4,500 to each claimant.
