Homeowners in Florida say they weren't told the federal flood insurance program was eliminating flood insurance subsidies for some homes starting this month.

Who is to blame? 

According to Jeff Harrington of the Tampa Bay Times, angry homeowners staring at tens of thousands of dollars more for flood insurance could turn to filing lawsuits against real estate and insurance agents.

Meanwhile, according to Mary Ellen Klas of the Miami Herald, Florida regulators recently told lawmakers it was speaking to private insurance companies to gauge interest in writing “expedited” flood insurance policies in the Sunshine State.
