Aspen Reinsurance has appointed Michael Dicker as global head of its Agriculture reinsurance business.

Dicker will be responsible for strategically directing Aspen Re's Agriculture product line, and for leading Aspen Re's North American Agriculture reinsurance business in an effort to expand underwriting activities into this market.

He will be based in Dublin but will work closely with underwriters in Miami, London, Singapore and Zurich.

Once Dicker joins Aspen Re in mid-October, he will report jointly to Peter Emblin, managing director and head of Casualty & Specialty Insurance and to Mike Sowa, managing director of Aspen Re North America.

“Michael has a wealth of reinsurance and global industry experience working in senior roles in both underwriting and broking, specializing in agriculture lines,” says Emblin. “This is an important and growing market segment for us and Michael is ideally qualified to manage our Agriculture reinsurance business globally as well as leading and having specific underwriting responsibility for our North American Agriculture reinsurance business.”

Dicker has more than 26 years of experience specializing in agriculture insurance. Most recently, Dicker was head of agriculture at Alterra Group, as well as Alterra's agriculture underwriting manager at Lloyd's Syndicate 1400. Previously, he worked for Guy Carpenter Group Global Agriculture Specialty Practice and at Agricola Underwriting Ltd, which he co-founded.
