Florida's last-resort insurer says it has hired a new CFO and chief risk officer.

In June CFO Sharon Binnum resigned after six years to accept a position with a private insurer. Filling the vacancy will be Jennifer Montero, who served as interim CFO since Binnum's departure.

Montero, a certified public accountant, has been with Citizens and its predecessor-organizations in a variety of roles, since 1999, says Citizens. She's been assistant controller, director of accounting, senior director of accounting and deputy CFO.

John Rollins will become Citizens' chief risk officer, a new position at the state's largest insurer of property.

He was a member of the Citizens Board of Governors, appointed by Gov. Rick Scott in 2011. He resigned from the board on Sept. 9.

Rollins was director of analytics at Citizens from 2006-2007. Once he starts on Oct. 14 Rollins will oversee the insurer's enterprise risk management, actuarial, analytics and product development.

Most recently Rollins was president of Rollins Analytics and vice president of public risk services for catastrophe modeler AIR Worldwide.
