John Geary has been brought on by W.R. Berkley Corp. to lead its new underwriting unit, Berkley Fire & Marine.
Products will be underwritten on an admitted basis on behalf of Berkley Insurance Co. and other subsidiaries of the corporation.
Headquartered in Chicago, Berkley Fire & Marine will focus on inland marine and related property risks regionally and nationwide, and will be distributed by independent agents and brokers.
Geary has more than 25 years in the P&C insurance industry, coming to Berkley from CNA, where he was vice president of the carrier’s inland marine operation.
Prior to CNA, Geary was with Travelers Insurance, where he served as vice president of underwriting for inland marine and oversaw three regional inland marine operations within the Midwest.
