All five insurance commissioners running for re-election fended off their challengers in Tuesday's balloting.

These include Karen Weldin Stewart in Delaware; Wayne Goodwin in North Carolina; Monica J. Lindeen in Montana; Adam Hamm in North Dakota; and Mike Kreidler in Washington.

Stewart, a Democrat, won 233,352 votes or 61.1 percent of the total votes cast, while Republican candidate Mobley won 140,669 votes or 36.8 percent of the total votes.

Goodwin, also a Democrat, won with 51.83 percent of the vote against Mike Causey, the Republican, with 48.17 percent.

Both were first elected in 2008.

Lindeen, whose title is commissioner of securities and insurance, as well as state auditor, was also first elected in 2008. Lindeen, a Democrat, defeated Republican Derek Skees with 53.55 percent of the vote against 46.29 percent.

Hamm, a Republican, defeated Democrat challenger Tom Potter with 63 percent of the vote to Potter's 36.5 percent.

Hamm, an attorney, was appointed to the insurance commissioner post by Gov. John Hoeven in October 2007 and elected to a four-year term in November 2008.

Kriedler a Democrat, defeat Republican John Adams, 57.75 percent to 42.26 percent.

He was first elected in 2000 and was re-elected to subsequent four-year terms in 2004 and 2008.
