More than 400 earthquakes have been detected since Saturday in Imperial County, Calif., according to the U.S. Geological Survey.

Catastrophe modeler Risk Management Solutions reports five quakes of greater than magnitude 4.5 were registered—the largest being a 5.5 magnitude earthquake on Sunday that exposed about 25,000 people to "very strong" shaking per the Modified Mercalli Intensity scale.

RMS says this kind of shaking "can be expected to cause moderate damage to resistant structures and moderate/heavy damage to vulnerable structures."

Earthquake "swarms" are known to happen in this area between the San Andreas and Imperial faults, but the USGS says the cluster of quakes does not foreshadow larger quakes.

No deaths of serious injuries were reported, says the Imperial County Office of Emergency Services. There were some power outages.

The temblors shook about two dozen mobile homes from their foundations, the county office adds.
