Travelers has rolled out IntelliDrive Fleet Safety Solutions, which uses telematics technology to implement fleet-safety programs.
IntelliDrive is being offered through Travelers for local and intermediate fleet operations and through Northland Insurance Company, a Travelers subsidiary that provides insurance for long-haul operations.
The devices use a range of technologies, including GPS and accelerometers, to measure the habits of drivers, and that information is sent to the company.
Travelers says companies can monitor how quickly a vehicle brakes and whether the vehicle's driver is speeding or operating outside of a pre-determined route or time. Businesses can use the data to assess and mitigate the risks of various driving behaviors.
IntelliDrive also offers guidance from risk-control consultants along with current, relevant information on telematics so customers can implement and manage their own program.
