Are insurance carriers prepared for cyber attacks on their systems and their data?

CSC's chief security officer Bryant Tow doesn't believe so and he and CSC are working to raise awareness of an issue that has been ignored for too long.

CSC organized a cybersecurity advisory council and at its first meeting, one of the attendees asked a representative of the FBI what the chances were that their company had been breached by a cyber attack, according to Tow.

The FBI representative replied: 100 percent.

Rather than be troubled by the FBI's response to the issue of whether companies have been breached, Tow acknowledges that many companies were oblivious to the danger they face.

"When someone says their company has had zero attacks, that really raises a red flag for me," says Tow.

Education and cooperation are key weapons in fighting cyber-terrorists, points out Tow.

"If wedon't align ourselves against our adversaries we have no chance," he says.

Tow discusses cybersecurity issues and what insurance carriers can do to fight this threat in a podcast for PropertyCasualty360.com with Robert Regis Hyle, technology channel editor for the Website.
