Brandon Richie was in pain after suffering a gunshot wound to the shoulder while on the clock Jan. 28.

He told police that he was in the ambulance straightening up and doing some paper work when an unknown man tapped him on the back and shot him. Richie claimed the shooter was wearing a lime-green jacket emblazoned with NASCAR-type.

Less than a month later, Richie changed his story, admitting that it was a self-inflicted wound.

Richie, 29, of Pensacola, Fla., pleaded guilty to charges of workers' comp. fraud and making a false report. He was sentenced to 36 months of probation on the fraud charge and a year of probation for making a false report. The sentences are to be served concurrently.
