Three executives at Main Street America Group have been promoted to new roles. The super regional property & casualty insurer, headquartered in Jacksonville, Fla., has appointed Steve Peeters as COO and executive vice president of insurance operations, Bruce Fox as vice president of legal services, and Dan Gaynor as vice president of commercial lines. All will remain based in Jacksonville.
As COO, Peeters will oversee the carrier's commercial lines, personal lines, bonds and assumed reinsurance product lines, as well as its pricing, information technology, claims and customer service functions. He will continue to report to Chairman, President and CEO Tom Van Berkel.
Peeters joined Main Street America in February 2010 as vice president and head of commercial lines and became senior vice president of product operations in August 2010. He previously was president and COO of Jacksonville-based Zurich Insurance Services, and also held executive roles at Zurich North America and Hartford Financial Services.
Fox, Main Street America's general counsel and secretary, leads the company's corporate law and state filings functions. He provides legal advice and counsel to all company personnel on matters affecting interests of The Main Street America Group, its five subsidiaries and two affiliates. Fox is also responsible for ensuring that the organization's business practices, policies and all other dealings meet state and federal regulatory requirements. Fox will continue to report to Van Berkel.
Fox joined the carrier in 2002 as a senior field attorney and was promoted to managing attorney in 2006, where he oversaw its staff counsel operations in Auburn, Mass. His legal career also includes roles as managing attorney at American International Group, director of legal services for the contract negotiation and benchmarking services division of AMR Research Inc., and senior trial attorney at two Boston-area law firms.
Gaynor leads Main Street America's commercial lines product group and is responsible for the company's commercial lines product premium growth and profitability results. Additionally, Gaynor is accountable for development, management and administration of all of Main Street America's commercial lines products and oversees its commercial lines underwriting function. Gaynor will continue to report to Peeters.
Prior to joining the company in February 2011 as director, commercial lines product and underwriting, Gaynor was resident vice president at Harleysville Insurance. He has also held leadership positions at Zurich North America, USF&G (a Zurich subsidiary) and Ohio Casualty Group.
