Swiss Re says it has named Christian Mumenthaler chief executive officer of its reinsurance subsidiary, Swiss Reinsurance Company Ltd (SRZ).
As chief marketing officer for reinsurance since January, Mumenthaler is already responsible for leading and growing Swiss Re’s core reinsurance business, the company says. Effective Oct. 1, he will assume his new responsibilities as CEO of SRZ.
He will be accountable for the group’s reinsurance strategy as well as its entire business performance, including financial results, capital and asset allocation, along with governing the legal entities comprised within SRZ.
The company also announced that Stefan Lippe will continue to lead the group as CEO of Swiss Re Ltd.
The company says it took these steps “in re-shaping its structure to enhance client focus, to increase capital efficiency and transparency, and to create long-term value for shareholders.”
The company says its new focus began on Feb.17 when it announced it would establish three subsidiaries.
