A judge has barred Alliant and former employees with Aon from soliciting Aon clients as the Chicago-based insurance broker presses its non-compete claims.
Judge Peter Flynn, sitting in Circuit Court of Cook County Chancery Division in Chicago, granted an injunction against Alliant Insurance Services and three former employees of Aon, Peter Arkley, Michael D. Parizino and Ken Caldwell from "acting in concert" to solicit Aon's clients to do business with them.
The judge also ordered that Alliant and the employees cannot solicit current Aon employees to work for them and that the three employees must return "alleged trade secret or confidential information" taken from Aon.
The defendants are allowed to accept business from Aon clients they did not solicit and that they had brought to Aon.
A spokesman for Aon said in an e-mail that the firm is "pleased with the ruling" and is looking forward to presenting its case "for a permanent injunction."
Last week, Aon filed suit against Newport Beach, Calif.-based Alliant after more than 40 employees left the firm to join Alliant.
Arkley headed up Aon's construction services group when he left the firm to join Alliant's construction services team.
Aon alleges Arkley and the others violated their non-compete agreements and stole trade secrets. Aon also alleges that Arkley negotiated new business for Alliant while still working for Aon.
