NEW YORK (AP) — Reinsurer Endurance Specialty Holdings Ltd. on Wednesday said it expects the April tornadoes that struck several Southern states will results in losses between $45 million and $55 million.
The Bermuda-based property and casualty company said that estimate applies to twisters that struck in Alabama, Arkansas, Georgia and Virginia. Most of the losses are related to reinsuring regional homeowner and farm mutual insurance companies in the region.
Endurance's loss estimate is pretax and net of reinsurance and reinstatement premiums.
To date, reported claims have been limited, which means actual losses may ultimately differ materially from the estimated losses.
Endurance shares closed Wednesday trading up 28 cents at $41.55.
