London-based insurance broker Jardine Lloyd Thompson says Alastair Speare-Cole will join JLT Reinsurance Brokers Ltd. as chief executive subject to regulatory approval.
The firm said he will join JLT Re as soon as he has completed his contractual obligations with Aon Benfield. He is currently a member of the Aon Benfield executive committee and chairman of Aon Benfield Securities Ltd.
Alan Griffin, Chairman, JLT Re, says in a statement, "This is a significant hire for JLT Re as Alastair brings some 30 years of reinsurance broking experience. While primarily known for his involvement with U.K. property and casualty markets, he also has extensive experience of marine, aviation, retrocession, accident health and life, and structured reinsurance."
In response to a report that there has been an exodus of broker from Aon Benfield to JLT, a spokesperson said JLT has hired 15 to 20 people from Aon Benfield.
Chicago-based insurance broker Aon acquired London-based reinsurance broker Benfield in 2008.
