The Institute for Business & Home Safety has added “insurance” to its name, becoming the Insurance Institute for Business & Home Safety (IBHS). The institute also has launched a redesigned and upgraded website.

“Our new name clearly and prominently identifies property insurers, reinsurers and other industry partners as the driving forces behind IBHS' valuable research, education and public policy initiatives,” said Julie Rochman, IBHS president and CEO. “These companies deserve to be given huge credit for their leadership of, and enthusiasm for, effective property loss mitigation.”

For the sake of continuity, ease, and to preserve brand equity previously attached to the institute's name, Rochman said that the organization will continue to use and be known informally as IBHS. “The 'I' will just have that much more meaning and importance,” she added.

IBHS is an independent, nonprofit, scientific and educational organization supported by the property insurance industry. It conducts objective, scientific research to identify and promote effective actions that strengthen homes, businesses, and communities against natural disasters and other causes of loss. It has facilities in Tampa, Fla., and Richburg, S.C.
