The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America announced that AmFed National Insurance Company is the newest member of the association's Trusted Choice consumer branding program.

AmFed, headquartered in Ridgeland, Miss., was originally founded by Billy Roberts in 1992 as a servicing carrier for the Mississippi Worker's Compensation Assigned Risk Plan. Currently, AmFed administers more than 70 million in premium in Mississippi. AmFed was acquired by Companion Property and Casualty Group in 2008. Companion provides property and casualty insurance solutions throughout the Southeast, Middle Atlantic and Midwestern United States and is headquartered in Columbia, S.C.

AmFed joins 59 other insurance companies nationwide as a Trusted Choice company partner.

Trusted Choice was launched by the IIABA and several independent agency companies to highlight the benefits independent agencies and brokerage firms offer consumers—choice of companies, customization of policies and advocacy support.
