Ohio Insurance Director Mary Jo Hudson has announced plans to resign Jan. 10.

Director Hudson was appointed director by Gov. Ted Strickland, D, in January 2007.

A Republican, John Kasich, is set to succeed Gov. Strickland Jan. 11. At press time, Mr. Kasich had not named an insurance commissioner.

Director Hudson has been the chairperson of the management committee at the Interstate Insurance Product Regulation Commission (IIPRC), an entity that tries to simplify the product filing process for insurers operating in the states that participate in the compact.

New Hampshire Insurance Commissioner Roger Sevigny recently took over from Director Hudson as chairman of the IIPRC.

Director Hudson also has been visible in the efforts of the National Association of Insurance Commissioners to develop Affordable Care Act implementation regulations and keep American International Group from using the assets of insurance company subsidiaries to shore up its other subsidiaries.
