Two West Coast insurance wholesalers are merging to form a brokerage with annual premiums of about $250 million.

The merger of Brown & Riding Insurance Services Inc. of Los Angeles and Alexander Morford & Woo Inc. (AMW) of Seattle will give the combined entity a broader reach, as well as allow it to grow organically and through limited acquisitions.

The new entity will operate under the AMW brand in the Pacific Northwest and as Brown & Riding in areas where AMW does not have a major presence.

Brown & Riding specializes in the health care and real estate markets, while AMW focuses on management liability, professional lines and other property/casualty areas.
