Bruce Ramge has been appointed acting director of the Nebraska Department of Insurance by Gov. Dave Heineman.

He succeeds Ann Frohman, who announced in late August that she would be leaving her post effective Oct. 29. She has since joined Physicians Mutual Insurance Co. in Omaha.

Mr. Ramge has been with the Nebraska Department of Insurance's Market Conduct Division since 1984. He served as deputy director since January 2008.

Mr. Ramge is currently a member of the NAIC Market Analysis Working Group and chairs the NAIC Market Conduct Examination Standards Working Group.

Ms. Frohman became director of the department in November, 2007 after serving briefly as acting director.

She had served as deputy director of the department since 2004 and spent four years as general counsel. She started with the department in 1990, working for six years as a staff attorney providing legal counsel to DOI and state officials.
