The Professional Insurance Agents of New York is conducting briefing sessions with members throughout the state to discuss the status of talks between it and the state insurance department regarding new producer disclosure regulations.
PIANY Director of Government and Industry Affairs Matthew Guilbault and Senior Research Analyst Ellen D. Kiehl will update member agents on the requirements of Regulation 194 compliance during the statewide Fall Regional Advisory Council meetings. They will also answer member questions.
Seating is limited. Agents interested in attending the sessions, which will run through October, should contact PIANY at pia@pia.org or Char Gaylord at 800-424-4244 and request placement at a session.
In addition, the association's Hudson Valley RAP conference, scheduled for Oct. 28 in Tarrytown, will feature a two hour session by Mr. Guilbault, for CE credits.
In a statement, PIANY Executive Director Diane Fowler said while there are still many question that can't be answered concerning the new requirements, the association is providing all updates and information that it can.
The association will provide additional education material after the rules are finalized, she said.
The Hudson Valley RAP will also feature New York State Insurance Department Deputy Superintendent Michael Moriarty, who will discuss the new regulation.
The meeting will also hear from newly appointed PIANY President Donna Chiapperino and posthumously honor Camilla Belser, vice president and regional manager of Merchants Insurance Group with the Hudson Valley RAP Executive of the Year award.
