Warren L. Farrar was named president and chairman of the Chartered Property Casualty Underwriter Society (CPCU Society) during the association's 66th annual meeting this week in Orlando, Fla.
Mr. Farrar is an assistant vice president with State Farm in Bloomington, Ill.
He succeeds Douglas J. Holtz, who was named immediate past-president and chairman. He is a commercial underwriting consultant with Liberty Mutual Agency Markets in Carmel, Ind.
Also named to new posts at the CPCU Society meeting were:
o Steven McElhiney, president of EWI Risk Services in Dallas, was named president-elect.
o David Medvidofsky, assistant vice president of the Main Street America Group in Jacksonville, Fla., was named vice president.
o Brian Savko, team manager-subrogation services at State Farm in Murfreesboro, Tenn., was named secretary/treasurer.
The CPCU said that in Mr. Farrar's inaugural address, he called the CPCU designation "a sound strategy with a positive return on investment" for both employees and employers in the insurance industry.
"Employers count on individuals with solid work ethic who demonstrate the ability to drive and excel in a volatile workplace," he said, adding, "Employers need CPCUs."
He said the CPCU Society leadership team is "working diligently to position the society to be responsive to change in the insurance industry."
