A 30-year-old woman from Connecticut has gone from food court to court room after making false claims against fast-food retailer.

The woman, Aimee Clemons, filed a claim for $2,775 in damages in 2008, stating that her daughter's throat was injured after she choked on a chicken bone in a McDonald's sandwich. Clemons concocted a story to back up her claim by falsifying medical reports, surgical procedures, and locations of treatment for her daughter's alleged injury.

Following a long police investigation, Clemons' order was up, and she was charged with insurance fraud, third-degree forgery, and criminal attempt to commit third-degree larceny.

She pled guilty to insurance fraud on September 8, 2010, after which her public defender told the court the injuries suffered by his client's daughter were real. He also admitted, however, that Clemons filed the false claims in an attempt to get paid upfront.

The court sentenced Clemons to two years in jail, suspended, followed by an unconditional discharge for her criminal conduct. While her daughter may or may not have choked on a chicken bone, Clemons' punishment is sure to be hard to swallow.
