Fort Worth, Texas-based insurance broker Higginbotham & Associates, a former winner of National Underwriter's Agency of the Year Award, has acquired Corpus Christi, Texas-based Swantner & Gordon Insurance Agency.
Financial terms of the transaction were not released.
Since 1995, Swantner & Gordon has grown from 30 employees and one office to more than 120 employees and four offices in Corpus Christi, Houston, Victoria and Portland, Texas. The firm provides commercial and personal property and casualty insurance, employee benefits, individual life and health, bonds, and risk management consultation.
The combination of the two firms brings the total number of professionals at Higginbotham to more than 500 professionals providing services through 16 offices in Texas. With the acquisition of Swantner & Gordon, Higginbotham said it will rank as one of the largest independent insurance brokerage firms in Texas.
"Swantner & Gordon is a first-rate firm that enjoys an outstanding reputation within the Texas insurance industry," said Higginbotham Chief Executive Officer Rusty Reid in a statement.
He said the acquisition of Swantner & Gordon expands the firm's geographic reach to the Texas coastal area and adds product diversity to its Houston practice.
