David H. Long was named president of Liberty Mutual Group, effective July 1, the company's chairman and chief executive officer, Edmund F. Kelly, announced late Wednesday.
The company said Mr. Long has been with Liberty Mutual for 25 years. He is currently executive vice president of Liberty Mutual Group and president of Liberty International.
Mr. Long will continue to lead Liberty Mutual's International business unit while assuming responsibilities as president of Liberty Mutual Group.
Mr. Kelly will continue as chairman and chief executive officer.
"I have often said that Liberty Mutual's success is directly tied to the outstanding leadership and strength of our management team," said Mr. Kelly. "David has excelled on this team while positioning our international business unit and company for continued profitable growth. David has been successful throughout a career of important positions and increasing responsibilities."
