The Risk and Insurance Management Society announced professional development programs covering insurance basics, workers' compensation management, enterprise risk management and other topics.

The courses, to take place in the RIMS offices in New York City, provide ideas from industry leaders in an interactive setting, according to RIMS.

Fundamentals of Insurance–May 13-14: Obtain a solid foundation of insurance from the elements of the insurance transaction to commercial property and liability insurance contracts–for those new to risk management or anyone wanting a refresher course on commercial insurance.

Advanced Workers' Comp Management–June 3-4: For experienced professionals with knowledge of workers' comp coverage and law, this workshop focuses on claim resolution strategies. Participants will review medical issues, return to work programs and disposition of difficult cases. Credit given for the RIMS Fellow designation.

Global Insurance Management–June 7-8: This participatory workshop will assist risk professionals whose corporate structures include multinational exposures, providing in-depth knowledge of key issues associated with multinational programs controlled by U.S. or foreign corporations. Credit given for the RIMS Fellow designation.

Integrating ERM into Strategic Planning–June 21-22: Participants will be taken through a series of exercises to uncover and manage risks within a strategy planning process that ultimately aligns ERM with an organization's overall strategy. Credit given for the RIMS Fellow designation.
