Credit insurer Coface has announced speakers for its 2010 Country Risk Meeting in New York that it said will feature short-term economic forecasts from leading economists, investment advisors and business leaders.

The Paris-based firm said this year's panel of economists at the May 13 session will include:

o Richard Golod, Van Kampen Investments director, global investment strategies, an expert on the analysis of global financial and economic trends which can lead to actionable investment strategies.

o Peter Hall, Export Development Canada vice president and chief economist, an analyst respected for his ability to identify and interpret economic developments and their implications.

o Marcos Buscaglia, Citibank director, economic and market analysis, an expert on Latin American business and economy.

o David B.H. Denoon, New York University professor of politics and economics, an expert on Chinese politics, economics and international affairs.

The company noted that in the past its Country Risk sessions have provided prescient information such as warning of the subprime financial crisis in 2008 by NYU Stern School Professor Nouriel Roubini.

And last year, it said Coface Chief Economist Yves Zlotowski had accurately forecast the end of the global recession for February of 2010.

This year, the company said the panel will provide expert opinion on the EuroZone economic crisis and an assessment of whether "China's red hot economy will overheat."

Credit insurer Coface is a provider of country, sector and business climate ratings for more than 165 nations.

The conference will be held 3 p.m. to 6 p.m. at the CUNY Graduate Center, 365 Fifth Ave, New York.
