The Spencer Educational Foundation, Inc., which provides scholarships to students of risk management, said it will hold its second annual fundraising gala Sept. 13, at New York's Waldorf Astoria Hotel.
Donna L. Galer, chairwoman of Spencer Educational Foundation, Inc. said in a statement that, "Last year's inaugural fundraising gala was designed to celebrate the Foundation's 30th anniversary, but it was such a tremendous success--raising more than $365,000 for risk management education--that we decided to continue the tradition into 2010."
"More than a fundraising initiative, the gala is an excellent way for Spencer Educational Foundation to raise awareness and support for educational programming, scholarships and grants. We thank all those who share in our mission and invite you to join us in September to support risk management education," Ms. Galer said.
Honorees at the dinner will include Foundation supporters Stephen P. McGill, chairman and chief executive officer of Aon Risk Services and Shivan S. Subramaniam, chairman and chief executive officer of FM Global.
Those who wish to request an invitation to the gala can call Camy Calve at 212-218-6223 or e-mail camyevents@aol.com. More information is available at www.spencered.org.
The Foundation said its mission is to stimulate, promote and encourage promising undergraduate, graduate and doctoral students of risk management disciplines in fulfilling their educational goals with scholarship awards and educational grants.
Established in 1979 to honor the late Robert S. Spencer, the Foundation is administered by its Board of Directors and is affiliated with the Risk and Insurance Management Society, Inc. (RIMS) in New York. For more information, visit www.spencered.org.
