The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America said the Dan Fulwider Award for Community Involvement has been given to Craig and Melanie Moon of the Moon & Adrion Insurance Agency in Middletown, Ohio.

The Moons were presented the award during the IIABA's Legislative Conference & Convention. It provides a $2,500 contribution to the charity of their choice.

It will be given by the Moons to Safe Havens Farm, a community for adults with autism. They are among the eight founding families of this special, nonprofit parent- and donor-funded effort. The Moons have an adult daughter who is autistic.

"The Moons give back to the community that supports their business and their family," said Robert Rusbuldt, IIABA president and chief executive officer. "Their efforts to improve the lives of people with special needs, particularly autism, are truly inspirational."

The Fulwider award recognizes Trusted Choice, member agents for going above and beyond in volunteering time and enthusiasm to causes close to their heart.

Mr. Fulwider, who died recently, was the government affairs coordinator and membership liaison for the Independent Insurance Agents of Iowa, and a supporter of Trusted Choice.

Trusted Choice is the independent agent branding campaign established by the IIABA. Its aim is to educate consumers about the benefits of using independent agents and brokers for their insurance needs.
