ABM LogoI am thrilled to announce that my blog has been nominated as a finalist for an American Business Media Neal Award–sort of the Oscars for business-to-business journalists!

I'll find out whether "A View From The Press Box" is the grand prize winner or an honorable mention on March 11, at a gala awards luncheon in New York City.  I hope I win, of course, but as the Oscar contenders always say, it truly is an honor just to be nominated.

I want to thank all of you for your support of my blog these past few years, and most of all for your lively comments on my musings. Whether you agree with me most of the time or hardly ever, you haven't been shy about sharing your opinions–often passionately–and I very much appreciate your feedback.

Your participation has fulfilled one of my prime goals when I launched this blog–to spur a dialogue about crucial trends in the P&C insurance industry, as well as outside factors impacting the business.

It's been fun, and now the blog has caught the attention of my journalism peers. As a screening judge myself for many years on the Neal Awards, I can appreciate how hard it is be named one of the three finalists in any given category. There is a lot of fine work and tough competition out there.

Wish me luck! I'll let you know how it goes on March 11.

Meanwhile, if you want to check out my competition for this year's Best Blog award, the other two finalists are:

• "The Business of Management," published by Workforce Management, at http://www.workforce.com/wpmu/bizmgmt.

• "Trucks At Work," published by Fleet Owner, at http://blog.fleetowner.com/trucks_at_work/.

May the best blog win!
