The Independent Insurance Agents & Brokers of America announced that Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., will address its annual Leadership Luncheon, just prior to the association's Legislative Conference & Convention in Washington.

The event will be held March 2 at the U.S. Capitol Visitor Center. Attendees will include IIABA executive and government affairs committee members, agents and brokers from the congressman's home state and other industry leaders.

"Rep. Ross is a true champion for small businesses and independent agents," said Robert A. Rusbuldt, IIABA president and chief executive officer. "He isn't afraid to tackle tough issues, even if it means disagreeing with his own political party.

"As a leader of the Blue Dog Coalition, he fights for fiscal reasonability and government accountability, two issues at the top of the Big 'I' agenda. As a former insurance agent, he knows firsthand the important role our members play in protecting families, consumers and small businesses."

Rep. Ross serves on the House Committee on Energy and Commerce (including the Energy, Health and Oversight and Investigations Subcommittees) and the House Foreign Affairs Committee.

The association also announced that Harold L. Morrison Jr., Chubb executive vice president and chief global field officer, will address the association's Diversity Luncheon.

Mr. Morrison leads Chubb's U.S. and International Field Operations, consisting of approximately 4,500 employees working out of 120 offices in 27 countries. He joined Chubb in 1984 and has held a number of management positions during his career with the company. He was recently named by Black Enterprise Magazine as one of the top 75 minority executives in corporate America.

The Diversity Task Force, which hosts the annual luncheon, is a cooperative industry group comprised of IIABA agents and brokers, members of groups representing Latin-American, African-American and Asian-American agents, and nine leading insurance companies.

The IIABA Legislative Conference and Convention will take place March 3-5 at the Marriott Wardman Park Hotel. Registration and hotel information is online at the www.independentagent.com "Events and Conferences" link.
